“I Hear America Singing” — July 4th Playlist

Apt. 6/8

Joan Baez and Bob Dylan, 1963.

I made a playlist for Fourth of July weekend that features all American composers and song-writers. This playlist pulls from some of my favorite genres: folk, jazz, and American classical music.

Pulling together a playlist of American music that sounds totally cohesive is a difficult task, so I didn’t attempt that, instead opting for broad genre groupings (admittedly, even those are pretty fuzzy). Hope you enjoy and learn some new music. Feel free to share any favorites I missed!

A note, the title of the playlist is from a favorite Walt Whitman poem of the same name.
